Night of the Skating Dead
The Bay City Rollers hosted their second public home bout, this time against Richter City Roller Derby Convicts. Our development team, the Twisted Sisters were also given the opportunity to debut on home turf as a curtain raiser mini-bout against Whenua Fatales.
The audience got right into the Halloween theme with some amazing costumes seen in the crowd and all the children dressing up was an amazing sight! With skaters & the audience taken to the after party by the Thirsty Bus we partied until the wee small hours at The Thirsty Whale. On September 2nd the Bay City Rollers development squad the Twisted Sisters had their cherry poppin' bout against Whenua Fatales in Levin.
The team had a fantastic debut with some amazing talent shown from girls who have only been skating for a few months. Watch out for this team at our next bout Night of the Skating Dead as Whenua Fatales are sure to be out for revenge! War of the Wheels
The Runaways travelled to Tauranga on 29 September to take part in War of the Wheels, a three-way bout against Mount Militia Derby Crew and Richter City Roller Derby Convicts.
Three intense games with the overall winner being Richter City Roller Derby Convicts. The Bay City Rollers took part in the first ever National Tournament held on August 25 2012 in Palmerston North and hosted by Swamp City Roller Rats. A full day of pool games with the final winner taking the prized Golden Skate.
Our final placing was 9th overall out of 13 teams and we can't wait to do it next year, we'll be coming back bigger and better than ever! Battle of the Bays
Inaugural Battle of the Bays triple header. The Bay City Rollers first public home bout against K-Town Derby Dolls (Kawerau) and Bin City Brutalion (Gisborne).
A fantastic crowd of nearly 900 packed out the stand with many seeing Roller Derby for the first time. The audience was quick to catch on to the rules and by the last jam of the night the roar from the crowd was deafening. With skaters & the audience taken to the after party by the Thirsty Bus we partied until the wee small hours at The Thirsty Whale.
