The Bay City Rollers are Hawke's Bay's Roller Derby league, with team members hailing from Napier, Hastings & Central District.
Formed in late 2009, what began with a handful of dedicated skaters teaching themselves the basics of roller derby via the internet, the league now boasts over 60 members. Enjoying this huge influx of new members as the popularity of roller derby grows internationally and locally the Bay City Rollers have expanded into two competitive bouting teams; The Iron Maidens, Hawkes Bay representative travel team and the Twisted Sisters, the development team. In 2015 Guns & Roses the junior division was formed for skaters under 18. This league is going from strength to strength and currently ranked 7th in New Zealand. Don't be fooled by the hot pink nail polish and lipstick, these girls are a force to be reckoned with on the track. There's a real sense of sisterhood within this tight-knit yet diverse group of women and with the Rockers coaches at the helm and training 'em hard - these ladies are determined to bring it again in 2018! Proud to represent Hawke's Bay & proud to be skater owned and operated. |
